The Problem:

I recently moved into a new apartment, and over the last 3 months I have come to the realization that nothing near my refrigerator ever rots. While a normal person might be fine with, or even happy about such a discovery, I find it to be quite worrisome or at least something worth taking a closer look at.

Every place I’ve lived prior to this seemed to encourage food to rot at an amazing pace. At my last apartment, it was usually less than four days before any bread was covered with a sour smelling white mold. Here, however, I have a bag of hamburger buns that I purchased before I moved in and somehow are still edible; I have broccoli, onions and peppers that have all lasted for more than a month and a half; and I have never seen mold on my cheese.
